Getting Started

Plugin Overview: What you can do with this plugin:

WooCommerce Shipping Label Generator allows you to create shipping labels for your orders in just a few clicks directly through your WooCommerce orders administration screen.

This documentation will walk you through how to upload and activate the WooCommerce Shipping Label Generator plugin. It will also cover how to set up the proper settings for creating a shipping label, tying in your EasyPost.com account and other helpful tips.


Installation

  • Option 1 via FTP
    1. Extract the .ZIP archive from Codecanyon to a local folder on your PC.
    2. Upload the extracted WooCommerce Shipping Label Generator plugin folder along with all its contents to '/wp-content/Plugins' directory using an FTP client.
    3. Login to your WordPress admin dashboard and click on the Plugins link on the left hand menu.
    4. Locate the WooCommerce Shipping Label Generator Plugin and click Activate
  • Option 2 via Plugin Installer
    1. Login to your WordPress Admin Panel and open the Plugins panel by clicking on plugins on the left hand menu.
    2. Click Add New and click on it.
    3. Look for the Upload Plugin button towards the top of the page and click on it.
    4. Browse for the WooShippingLabels.zip file you downloaded locally and upload it.
    5. After successfully uploading the plugin you must now activate it.

EasyPost.com Setup

In order to create shipping labels your can print for shipping an EasyPost.com account and activate your API key.

  1. Visit EasyPost.com to create an account.
  2. Visit your Dashboard and make note of your API Key. We will use these later to setup the plugin.
  3. You must also make sure to add any carrier accounts you may have. You can do this from the carriers screen in your dashboard.

Plugin Settings

Let's take a look at setting up your plugins settings to ensure a successful flow when generating shipping labels for orders.

  1. In your WordPress admin panel go ahead and click on WooCommerce Settings in the left hand panel.

  2. Click on the Shipping Labels tab at the top of the page.
  3. You should be presented with a screen like the image below.
  4. Copy your API key from the easypost.com Dashboard we viewed from the step above.
    • BE SURE TO BE USING YOUR TEST KEY WHEN TESTING (RECOMMENDED AT FIRST).
    • BE SURE TO SWITCH TO YOUR PRODUCTION KEY WHEN YOU ARE READY TO GO LIVE.
  5. Please be sure to fill out ALL of the other fields in order to successfully use the plugin.

Shipping Label Section

Creating a Shipping Label

Creating a shipping label is easy. Lets walk through the process.

  1. In your Wordpress Admin visit WooCommerce -> Orders. You should notice the button titled Buy Label under the actions column.
  2. Let's go ahead and click the Buy Label button for the order you are looking to create a shipment for. You should be presented with the following screen.

    • a. You have two options. If you will be using a predefined USPS package, please select the Predfined USPS Box option. If you have a custom box please select the Custom Box option.

    • b. If you have selected the Predefined option please select the package from the dropdown along with the package weight. If you selected the Custom Box option be sure to fill out the length, width, height and weight of the package. Then go ahead and hit the Get Rates button.
    • c. You will be presented with a list of rates and shipping options similar to the image below. Go ahead and select the rate you wish to purchase and click the Purchase Label button.
    • c. You will then be redirected to a screen with the label you can print and ship off the package. You will also notice a tracking number. Both the label and the tracking number are added to the orders custom fields in case they need to be accessed in the future.
  3. Back on the orders screen you will notice that the order you just purchased a shipping label for now has a tracking number and shipping label in the custom fields section.

Cancelling Shipments

You may choose to offer customers a certain amount of time to ship their products. If you choose to cancel the shipment and be refunded the cost of the label you must visit your dashboard.

  1. Once you have gone to your EasyPost.com dashboard. Locate the shipment you are wanting to cancel.
  2. Click the Refund link for that shipment.
  3. Confirm the Refund.

Tips

  • Please visit EasyPost.com for help related to their systems.
  • Do not forget to add carriers under your easypost.com dashboard under the carrier tab.
  • Do not forget to alternate between test and production API keys when testing vs actually creating shipping labels.
  • Be sure that the address you are creating the label for is a valid address.
